Tuesday, it would appear, is market day in Guildford. The whole of the High Street is given over to market stalls.
I only wish I’d had time to indulge in the many goodies on offer. Unfortunately I was on my way back to the hospital, this time for an MRI. It was nice to see that the market was busy with people, particularly at the fresh produce stalls and baked goods. Perhaps on some Tuesdays, I might pop over to do a bit of shopping. It’s only a couple of bus rides after all.
As well as the above photo of the market stalls, this week’s Guildford Pics feature Abbot’s Hospital…
…and the legendary Three Pigeons pub at the top of High Street.
The MRI was not as awful as I thought it was going to be. To be fair, if someone suffered from claustrophobia then it could be a problem being shoved into a round narrow tube but enclosed spaces don’t bother me so this wasn’t an issue. In fact I was given a set of headphones tuned to Radio 4 so I could lie down and listen to it as the machine did whatever the machine does for an hour and a quarter. Apart from a coffee, it was just like every morning in the extension.
The woman who looked after me was very pleasant, putting me at my ease and checking up on me every now and then (via the headphones to which I’d reply with a thumbs up). Actually, all the staff at the hospital have been really lovely. I’m wondering if this is because it’s a private hospital. I don’t mean to say that public hospital staff are not lovely – I’ve only ever had good experiences – but they are generally pretty busy and therefore there’s not a lot of time for pleasantries.
The scan came and went and I was on my way home feeling no different except for being a little bit rested from the enforced lie down. Of course I missed the bus home by five minutes which meant a 55 minute wait for the next one so I went for a wander, had a coffee, looked in shops, etc, etc. (The market had packed up and gone home so sadly I couldn’t have a wander through it.)
Finally walking in the door at home, the puppies went mental.
What a shame you missed the bus still it gave you time to take more photo’s for me what a lucky mum haha, Lets hope the MIR show’s what is wrong, I have to go to Guildford on my next visit.
Love mum xxx
