Slippyness during the icy times

There were an awful lot of joggers in the woods today. Maybe they’d heard about the fallen tree across the path and they wanted to see it for themselves. Maybe it was something to do with the improvement to the weather – all blue sky and sunshine. Maybe it was just coincidence. Whatever the reason, it proved a tad annoying given I had to put the girls on their lead for our walk into Trosa.

Ignoring the joggers, we had a lovely walk into town. For a start, the big winds of yesterday had moved further to the west. I read an article about the winds blowing off the Baltic, bringing down trees across railway lines, crushing various things. The devastation was a lot worse than what happened locally.

Apart from the tree across the track behind the house, I didn’t really see much evidence that there had been a big wind yesterday. Instead, everything looked postcard perfect. So perfect that I thought I’d send Mirinda this image. Just to make her want to come home.

As has become our habit, we went as far as the beginning of the harbour in order to see what has been happening in the big green area. During the week, work has progressed on the new garden. I found an artist’s impression of what it’s going to look like when it’s finished. According to the sign, it’s supposed to be completed by next summer.

The big green area is called Hamnängen and the council is developing it, in order to make it accessible to more, for more of the year. To be fair, it does become a bit muddy in the winter so the wooden decking should provide somewhere pleasant to walk. Though, I do wonder about the slippyness during the icy times.

Anyway, here’s the artist’s impression of what it will look like next summer.

There’s a webpage detailing the plans and future for Hamnängen here. Which, incidentally, was where I stole the picture above.

Another bit of work going on is at La Aduana, the old Customs House. It opened in a blaze of celebrations this summer just gone. We had a drink there after the big, wet Trosa run and Jason discovered a brilliant big pork steak beforehand.

While the new area out the back was completed, the front was still being updated. Work had stopped while the newest (and only) late night party central was heaving. Since September, however, the front work has begun and new decking is being installed. Presumably, it promises yet more space for drinking and dancing.

Back at home, I had a lovely unexpected Skype with Mirinda (I guess the photo worked) before she had to leave to meet up with Sophie.

I pottered around the house for a bit then, unexpectedly, I got to watch some football. Championship sides Stoke against Derby. Not the greatest game, but it’s been a while and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Actually, I’ve seen a lot worse at Aldershot.

Something I wonder though is why footballers have such stupid haircuts? Is it part of their contracts? They have to look as ridiculous as they can? Because they do.

Hair aside, Stoke won. The final quarter of the game was exciting.

What Stupid Thing Did Donald Trump Say Today

A while back, I started writing a sub-section in each blog post detailing the stupid things that Donald Trump would say. Well, I came across this today, and it was just too good to pass up.

Trump: This is the weave, you know, a little weave, right? You know, they used to say, these are stupid people, they used to say he rambled, I don’t ramble. I do a weave. You know what a weave is, it’s a story, and as you’re telling the story, you realize that there’s a little offshoot, go up here, but the key is then you have to come back and then you’re doing the story, you’re getting down to bottom line and boom, you do another little weave, then sometimes you do a weave off a weave, it’s here and that and then be it’s called the wave and one guy got it right? A writer. They said Trump is a totally brilliant guy. He said he’s the most, I’ve never said a thing because you always have to end up in the right place or then you’re rambling, you know, then you’re rambling. It’s like 15 different subplots. But no, I have a very, very fertile, very fertile brain

That sure sounds like a candidate for the White House. I think that perhaps, the conspiracy theorists who claim that after Trump wins he’ll be put out to pasture and JD Vance and the other crazy people will take over and implement a fascist regime, maybe on to something.
