I love having dinner at Lagnö Bo. Tonight was no exception. Actually, it was doubly pleasurable because the necessary renovations are almost complete. Having looked so awful not that long ago, the Winter Garden now looks brand new.

Dinner was home grown and made leek and potato soup, which was delicious. Also, Anita made some rolls which worked awfully well; perfect for dunking. Mind you, Jonas loaded his with salad and seemed happy with the combination.
Actually, it was the first time for Jonas. For dinner, at least. He’d visited a long time ago. He was introduced as the husband of KSP (as usual) but this was surprisingly met with “Who is KSP?” It’s the first time I’ve ever heard of people from Trosa not knowing who she is.
Ann-Helen was also with us, as was, Nicoline. Obviously.
There were other renovations in town today. All week actually and nothing like Lagnö.
Last week, ahead of the dinner I made Nicoline and Jonas, I claimed that the bridge near ICA would be closed for resurfacing and general repairs. There had been signs up for ages saying it would be unusable in week 44. For those unaware of it, in Sweden they talk in the week number when announcing when things are likely to happen.
Because I’m essentially stupid, I thought it was week 44 last week. It’s actually week 44 this week. So, today and yesterday, so far and as declared, the bridge was closed. Quite a few people decided they’d try anyway – possibly because they thought last week was week 44. Their faces were a picture of mingled disbelief and annoyance.
Of course, the pedestrian bridge was still working, so I trundled over without a care in the world.

The other thing I did today was make some more pickled beetroot. When I attempted to tell Nicoline during this morning’s språkkafé session, she pulled a face saying she doesn’t like pickles. I said I love pickled beetroot and thought it was a bit silly buying them from the supermarket when I could make my own.
I bought a bag of beets last week. They were reduced. It seemed churlish not to.
Then, this afternoon, because the day was so beautiful, blue and bright, I locked myself in the kitchen to do my pickling.

The jars originally contained pickled beetroot so it seemed the right thing to do.
I love having a husband who pickles his own beetroot – tres cute
