Odiham drunk

Went to Heathrow early to see Denise and Co off. Up at 6am. Yuck. Tired most of the day. Still, it was nice seeing them off.

Denise very emotional; all teary as usual. They seemed to have enjoyed their tour of Scotland though Kelly was a bit disappointed with Stonehenge – she thought it would be bigger. Drew has decided he is a Liverpool supporter. Now has a shirt. Damn! I should have got him Dudek not Barthez.

Mirinda met me at Farnham and we drove over to East Worldham. Had a drink at the Three Horseshoes. Went for a walk up to the church. Very cute. Went in and ‘collected’ it. St Mary the Virgin, it is called. The one that Chaucer’s wife Mary may be buried in.

We then walked along Blanket Street and part way down a path (I’ll probably walk that way to work) by a farm. So idyllic.

Went to dinner at Next Door at the George. The town (Odiham) drunk was there tonight doing a sort of ‘bar stance shuffle’. He started at one end (he was alone) and moved, for no reason, to the other, swayed there for a while, then moved again. Every now and then, he’d spy someone who had unsuccessfully managed to ignore him and try to chat with them. Very odd guy but a great character to find in an English pub, in the country, on a Sunday night. Classic.
