I collect Other People’s Shopping Lists. Actually, to be completely accurate, when I come across one, I take a photo of it and upload the picture to my Flickr account. I’ve been doing it for years. I even have a few that other people have given me. Not the same ‘Other People’ but other people who have found Other People’s lists.
This morning, at Waitrose, I found this list in the bottom of my trolley, carefully folded in half, as if the person didn’t want the world to know quite how fond of carbs they were.
Assuming that WB and BB are shorthand for white and brown bread, all four items are highly carb-o-rific. But that’s not what has me puzzled. After all, it might be for a café that didn’t get its bread delivery. But why the six packets of gnocchi? And why would anyone want gnocchi that’s not made with potato? Surely that would just be thick pasta.
All very mysterious.
And, speaking of mysteries, as I walked into town, along the all-weather path, I spotted something that I can only assume is an attempt at an art installation. Or some elaborate and ineffective way to feed squirrels.
I guess it’s what you expect in a Craft Town with a university of creative art in it.
Is it meant to frighten cats away – so that they won’t run up into the trees and catch birds or nestlings?
OMG! I didn’t think of that. Could be.
