Ironic raindrop

I didn’t sleep well last night. My brain keep worrying about Mirinda then Florence then the flat then back again. It was a constant wheel of misfortune spinning relentlessly. Consequently I woke up feeling pretty much like I hadn’t been asleep.

A coffee helped a little bit and then I started back into clearing things away before Tomascz turned up to collect the keys. Of course, it was raining. I don’t think we are having unprecedented levels of rain in the south east this year but it feels like there’s been little let up.

A bright moment in an otherwise dull day was an unexpected sweet treat.

I’d decided to try the new cafe downstairs from the flat this morning.

I sat and worked on the blog as I sipped my latte (very nice). The thing that looks like a toasted panini in the photo above is actually something I’ve never seen before. It’s a warmed up pistachio croissant. Like an almond croissant only green. It was spectacularly naughty.

Filled up with carbs and coffee, I headed for the Tube and home. On the way I spotted a couple of things that made me reach for my phone.

Firstly, the water company has decided to reduce the road to the flat to a dead end while they do whatever water companies do beneath roads.

And, secondly, just outside the entrance to Canary Wharf tube, a wonderful piece of street art that has become ironic. I didn’t see a sign with the title or the artist but it seems to be suggesting the current weather conditions.

Ironic raindrop?

The ride to Waterloo was okay (I managed to get a seat). Because of the inconsiderate strikers, I had to wait 50 minutes for a train home.

I do wonder why the strikers feel they are in the right when the only people they’re inconveniencing with this month long strike are the train users. Strikes were once designed to force the hand of a company by losing them productivity and money. I don’t remember strikes designed to annoy people out of sympathy for the strikers. There must be thousands of Christmas shoppers and people who wanted to enjoy the fireworks this year who will be rightfully annoyed.

Still, once the wait was over, I boarded and was consequently driven back to Farnham where it was raining. In fact it has been raining so much that the Wey is looking a bit swollen.

I visited the shops then headed home. Given the rain and my aching knee, I cheated and caught the bus.

Following a not long enough rest, I took the girls to the park for a run around until the rain forced us home again.

Quarantine Report

Mirinda is a lot better today (though the god-awful cough remains) so it looks like we WILL be going to Florence after all.
