More fantasy playground

First up, the Edison letter included on Friday. It refers to his wish for a phonograph that he had loaned to the museum to be sent to Paris for an exhibition. It is the second page of the letter. Mr Hammer was his London agent. Here is the second page in full.

…pleased if you would kindly permit Mr Hammer to take the phonograph mentioned to Paris to remain there during the Exposition after which it will be restored to its present surroundings.

Appreciating any courtesies which you may extend.

I beg to remain,
Yours very truly

And, secondly, the fragment of the painting I mentioned the other week. This is it.

And we’ll say no more about it…

More to the point: what is happening with the Adventure Playground?

For reasons unknown, they only worked on it last Thursday, Friday and Saturday so there was little change at the beginning of the week. I say ‘little’ but there was actually no work done at the beginning of the week. Still, they went a bit mad at the end of the week which more than made up for any lack at the beginning.

The whole thing

The whole thing

The main structure appears to be some sort of castle which has a series of castellations which rather than hide archers, give access to walkways and emergency exits. It all looks very exciting.

In fact, I passed a mother and child of about 6. The child was clearly talking about the playground and, as I walked by, she said “I am like totally going to play on it when it’s finished!” She declared this with great passion. Her mother, trying not to laugh merely answered her with “Oh? Are you?” and winked at my knowing smile.

And the higgledy piggledy uprights are the posts for an elevated walkway as you can see from this photo. I reckon there’ll be big thick ropes linking it all together as well otherwise the Health and Safety Directorate will be having fits.

This week’s roast was…drum roll…DUCK! Just for a change. Delicious, especially with Delia’s cherry sauce and Chez Gaz gravy.
