Mini love

Today, after lunch, we drove over to Hindhead to look at some Minis. What a sexy little car. I kinda fell in love with the convertible.

Of course, Mirinda had her usual Skype with Bob and Fi. Bob told her all about his new tenants, the goannas. He described the loving attentions of mum goanna for baby goanna. He expressed surprise that a goanna could be a good, loving mother. I contend that goannas wouldn’t have lasted so long without a strong maternal instinct.

He took some film of them which he’s put on Flickr which reminded me a bit of a BBC show on at the moment about domesticated animals and how they still use the skills that would ensure their survival in the wild, adapted to life with humans. The hamster was extraordinary. Particularly the x-ray footage of it packing its cheek pouches with food and, in one sequence, toilet paper.

Naturally, we loved the dog stuff. As did Emma. She watched it right up until the screen froze and I had to reboot the BT Vision box. She then grew a bit bored by the long wait and went off. Day-z, of course, had taken herself upstairs to bed and missed it. Not that she watches the TV anyway.

Something very odd happened while we were watching the programme. The Stealth fire decided to turn itself off. Given this requires the motor to turn on and reduce the gas intake, it was a bit weird. I have since discovered that it has an auto function so maybe we’d accidentally pushed the wrong button and it had reached the requisite temperature. All a bit eerie when the fire decides we’re warm enough.

Speaking of ‘warm’…it certainly wasn’t anything like warm up at the Devil’s Punchbowl, where we walked the dogs after our Mini Adventure.

We even saw some of the Exmoor ponies, munching away on bales of hay placed especially for them. They have been ‘imported’ to manage the heathland. I think they might be there to ease the pony population pressure at Exmoor as well.

But, back to the Minis…we had a good look at the options (Cooper, Cooper S, Countryman, convertible, etc) and have booked in for a test drive next Saturday. We were careful not to let Sidney know her days are clearly numbered.

What do you mean we have to go home now?

I loved the mini convertible too! And the 5 door. This won’t be an easy decision.

The stealth fire also turned itself back on later…. Has Aunty Vera moved? Knowing Sidney’s time us up??
