And so it is finished. David finished at around 2pm, I paid him and he started an early weekend. I think it looks fantastic. The colour isn’t quite accurate on here but it’s close.
Now we need to buy some nice hot pink bed linen, just for Nicktor.
Possibly more important than the Old Rose Room was the cricket. Today was the first day of the fourth Ashes test. With England batting first, the Australians went to town, limiting scoring opportunities with some solid and accurate bowling. It wasn’t as exciting as some of the previous days in this series but, by the end of the day, the Australians were in the driving seat, ending it on 238-9 with still four days to play. Fingers crossed we can at least draw the series with two wins.
Fortunately, Mirinda’s taxi pulled up outside just as the final ball was being bowled, so I didn’t miss anything. We had a lovely cup of tea in the garden, happy in the knowledge that the cricket was going well.

Ages ago we went to our first Girls and Guitars at the Maltings and saw Hannah Scott. Tonight she was returning for another set of her own composing, including a sneak peek at the contents of her new EP. Naturally, I bought tickets.
And she was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyable. She sang one of my favourites (Grey) and I realised I knew most of the lyrics. That adds another dimension to attending these gigs.
A couple of annoying things about the gig which had nothing to do with Hannah. Firstly, the guy who gives out the tickets and his lady friend were once more chatting away, loud enough to be heard, while Hannah was playing. This annoyed a few people in the room with heads turning and frowny faces turned towards them.
Secondly, the pizzas. Two large guys plonked themselves down at the front table and, mid set, were presented with three just made pizzas. They then proceeded to eat them. Their table manners were fine but the smell was hunger inducing and, I think, nearly everyone in the room wanted some. And, really, weren’t they taught to share?
Still, pizza aside, another excellent G&G gig which we both thoroughly enjoyed.
Sounds like a great night shame about the Pizza.
