I went into Guildford today to buy a pair of shorts. My previous favourite pair developed a somewhat large hole in the bottom when I sat down too quickly in Ireland. It was a sad moment in short history.
I was going to go by bus but the times were a bit erratic so I opted for the train. The rain almost put me off but when it never eventuated (though the clouds looked threatening enough) I figured it was a good time for apparel shopping.
Why Guildford? Well, I’d tried to buy the perfect pair of shorts locally with no luck so there was nothing for it but to visit TK Maxx. There’s one in Guildford and another in Woking. As it turned out, I would probably have had better luck going to Woking. Still, I haven’t been to Guildford for a while and took the opportunity to wander around the castle gardens.
They looked all bright and colourful in the infrequent bursts of actual sunlight. You could almost imagine it really was summer. There were even families sitting around on benches, having picnics and generally soaking up the seasonal weather.
Something I’ve wanted to blip for ages is the wonderful Alice statue, hidden away in the upper gardens around the castle. It’s my favourite Alice statue.
But my tourist-like behaviour quickly came to an end as I went into TK Maxx. There were no shorts! I was amazed. Okay, that’s not exactly true. They had those sporty type shorts made from the kind of material I hate touching but, as for real cotton shorts, perfect for summer wearing, there were none.
I ended up buying some pyjamas and a new shirt before hopping on the train back home. So, I guess the trip wasn’t completely wasted.
Back at home, I ran Mirinda through some questions in preparation for her TV interview on Monday. She comes across as very confident, self assured and knowledgeable. I’m sure she’ll be perfect. I feel so proud of her.
I bet you are cant wait to see the interview my self.
