Not so wild about Wilde

Mirinda still sick so I went on my own to the Yvonne Arnaud to see A Woman of No Importance. She was lucky. It was terribly boring. The play wasn’t bad, but it needed a lot of red pen. Sets were a bit pathetic.

Kate O’Mara, who played Mrs Arbuthnot, should be allowed to die with a bit of grace. I overheard a woman in the audience say that she looked “Hideous!” I think she looks a bit like a newt. Or maybe a close relative of the Bride of Wildenstein.

It wasn’t all bad, though. Josephine Tewson, Elizabeth in Keeping up Appearances, was excellent as Lady Hunstanton. As was Catherine Kanter, who played Lady Caroline.

I didn’t get home till quite late and not asleep until 01:30.
