Mirinda received a lovely series of short videos today. They were from Neighbour Dave and were of his walk through Farnham Park. They featured the trees, the cows in the paddock, Rodney and Corkie and the still quite green grass. The result of a wet summer, he said. Normally, at this time of year, the grass would be brown. The final video featured Neighbour Gail, reporting from the Food festival in Castle Street.
Such a lovely thought. Mirinda is going to send him some from here.
Not such a lovely thing is Jason’s bike being stolen the first time he locked it up at the station yesterday. In a city where people are encouraged to ride bikes everywhere, I wonder how they manage to keep them from being nicked. Seems a bit backwards to me. Mind you, there are arseholes everywhere and it’s a real shame that booby trapping your ride is discouraged.
But, moving away from petty theft, Harald and Roger turned up first thing this morning to start work on the big shed. Apparently, the reason why it developed a leak and became, effectively, useless, was that there were not enough beams supporting the roof. This is now being rectified.
It’s already starting to look a lot better. With the roof off and the doors open, it actually looks bright and useful. To alleviate the gloom, Harald is going to put a couple of windows in the back wall.
As for us, we treated Max to a bit of a run around town after lunch. He has sat by the letterbox, seemingly not required, for quite a while, his future being discussed. We are not sure what to do with him but transport to the UK and ultimate sale, is his probable fate.
Anyway, today he was driven to the ICA where I had great fun (/s) organising the sending of a priority paid letter to the UK while Mirinda had much more fun discussing the merits of various TVs with a very helpful woman in Elon.
Mirinda is having issues reading the subtitles on our current TV so a new, bigger one is required. I shouldn’t really get excited about a new, bigger TV, but I am. Sad, but true.
It was then time to give Max a jolly good wash as well as pump his tyres up a bit.
The car wash at Vagnhärad is a drive in, reverse out type of affair. I’ve never seen one. They are usually drive through. It was an odd experience watching a weird image of Max in front of us as we sat, surrounded by the washing brushes and sloshing water.
I guess the reflective surface in front of the car is to prevent people, accidentally, trying to drive through the wall.
Finally, back at home, it was time for me to record this month’s Letter from Sweden. For anyone interested, here it is.
If I include my usual early shop and Mirinda’s late gympa class with KSP, overall it was a pretty busy day. Well, by our standards anyway.
