We celebrated the beginning of our stay in Trosa today, with that wonder of Swedish cuisine, a banana and curry pizza. I say ‘we’. It was actually Mirinda. I had a more traditional Italian delight: a calzone. Sadly, there was no sauerkraut accompaniment.
We had driven from Ekerö, after packing Max and tidying the house. And I have to say, there was no room left in the car. I feel like we haven’t bought very much since arriving in Sweden, but the little we have bought has certainly made a difference. I’m currently thinking that there’s no way we’ll be able to drive back to the UK with so much stuff but the 40 minutes to Trosa was okay.
We were very lucky with the weather. There was a light smattering of rain at one point but otherwise, the day remained dry.
Arriving at the house in Trosa, I was somewhat dismayed at the number of steps from the road to the front door. I didn’t count them but, at a rough estimate, I think there were about 3,000. At least there’s only the one floor in the house.
After 40 or 50 trips up and down, followed by a well deserved beer, we walked into Trosa for milk and food. Unfortunately, the place we’d decided to visit was closed as was the next place we chose. We wound up at Ankaret and the aforementioned aberration.
We ate at Ankaret the first time we visited Trosa back in 2021 and the food and beer were still excellent. I can’t really speak for the banana and curry thing that Mirinda ate but my calzone was delicious.
The other big mission today was to get some printing done at the library, but that proved impossible given their printer was broken. This followed am attempt to get the printing done at Ekerö only to find the door to the library locked and the people inside staring at me like I was an alien.
Other than that, the move went perfectly fine. We managed to stop at the bageri down by the car ferry for a much-needed lunch and coffee before heading across the water.
I reckon we’re going to enjoy living (albeit temporarily) in Trosa.
Ignoring the steps, anyway.
