I haven’t blogged for the last couple of days because, firstly, I’m not feeling well but, secondly, and more importantly, we have been busy with getting rid of our stuff. And it’s such a great feeling. The more we get rid of, the better we feel. And the better we feel, the more we get rid of. The freedom from Stuffication is its own reward. Personally, I feel like the sluice gates have been lifted and tossed into someone else’s causeway.
This is all because we’re leaving soon. I can’t help but think how much easier it would have been had we not had so much stuff. Still, we are learning. From now one, once a year, we are going to go through our stuff and decide what can go. Hopefully that will leave us with the ability to just go somewhere if we want to. It would not be so hard to leave.
Something that will be hard to leave is the park. This time of year, it can look absolutely beautiful.
Obviously, I’ll miss the people I see most days. Especially my Starbucks family, Sue, Jade, Hannah, Jazz etc, people from the park, Vivienne, Lynn from St Mawes, Lorna who’s had everything, etc. And all the dogs who come up and wish me a good morning. These micro relationships have become so much more in my life.
Speaking of Lorna who’s had everything, I saw her the other day. Since Covid, she’s not wanted to go anywhere. Her husband wants to go to Canada, but she says she can’t even face going to London these days, let alone on a long flight. Actually, she confessed, it’s hard enough taking Alfie up the park. I find that incredibly sad.
But, besides these things, I am so looking forward to our Swedish Return. I am really looking forward to going to Notholmen of a Sunday, fiskasoppa at Norrbys, shopping at Tyresö Centrum again, wandering around Stockholm, there are so many things to look forward to.
I need change in my life. I need to see and experience new things. If I don’t, after a while, I start questioning why I actually exist at all. I mean, for all intents and purposes, I may as well be an ornament.
Mind you, I am quite handy in the kitchen. For instance, tonight we had sausages and cauli-broc mash with a butter fried egg on top and roasted aubergine in thyme.
It was pretty bloody good, if I do say so myself.
A rather scruffy ornament. A tomte ornament.
Well we will see lots of new things on our Scandinavian adventure! I feel like I’m peeling of layers of stuff and emotions ready for the next stage of our lives.
Like when Aslan peeled off the dragon layer of eustace in voyage of the dawn treader.
