Surprising nail polish

There are still a few people I haven’t seen since we returned home. Most notably, I haven’t seen Debbie from Waitrose. I was a bit concerned and was going to ask Pamela but didn’t get a chance this morning. Then, as I was walking along Long Garden Walk, I ran into Debbie.

As usual, she was all smiles and cheerful even while telling me where she’d been.

She has twin nine year old boys and is a single parent. One of her boys, she said, tested positive for Covid 19 so the three of them were locked away. Then, just as they were about to leave their temporary jail, her other son tested positive.

For three weeks, she said, she was locked up with them both. As much as she loves them, she told me that there’s not much worse.

Her recently acquired freedom was great though not quite as great as my lunch.

Today I spent a lovely couple of hours eating with, and chatting to, Dawn.

We sat outside at The Lost Boy where masks aren’t plentiful and the food is excellent. As well as swapping tales of the past nine months, we also chatted with our server who had the most extraordinary painted fingernails.

Dawn told me all about her various new ventures as well as their new neighbours. They moved while we were away and, now they’re in a village, she has managed to meet lots of new people.

My favourite is Angry Leslie though the woman who won a prize in the local flower and produce show with a garden centre fuchsia is also well worth a mention. It all reminded me of The Archers though the thought that Jill would ever enter a garden centre flower as her own is just unthinkable.

Obviously, I bored her with my fanboy raves about Sweden. She was most disappointed that I didn’t visit the ABBA Museum. She said that when she comes and visits us, I have to take her. I told her it was a deal.

In the meanwhilst, here’s what it looked like on 31 October.

Reading the post for that day, it all seems so long ago. And I miss it so much.
