I have been writing a book. It’s about my millionth attempt at a work of fiction. I started at the end of last year and had a first draft completed about a month ago. I then set it aside for a bit, following Stephen King’s advice. I opened it up again today and started working on the second draft.

It’s very interesting reading and fixing something that you’ve sort of forgotten and remembered at the same time. Obviously, I remember the general story, but a few of the details were a surprise to me. I think that’s funny given it all came out of my head in the first place. You’d think you’d remember it all.

Anyway, today was mostly made up with reading through the 50,000+ words and fine honing them a bit. It was also about writing my blog post for yesterday and, before bed, recording my podcast, Letter from Sweden. It seems that most of my life is spent in writing.

(By the way, I recorded my podcast tonight because I’m not sure what state I’ll be in tomorrow after spending Midsummer Eve across the road. This decision was made after reading how midsummer mostly consists of drinking snaps and singing drinking songs. And herring. Naturally, there’s always herring.)

First thing, though, we headed for the bus stop in order to go and collect Max whose service was finally completed.

The lovely Veronica tried to charge us, but the software wouldn’t work. In fact, at one stage, following some in-depth working out by another person who worked there, the computer system decided to charge us nothing. I told Veronica this was excellent and, clearly the software was on my side.

Oh, how we laughed.

We have to take Max back to get his brake pads replaced, so we’ll pay then.

We left, stopping at Norrby’s on the way home for some naughty fika. We were much earlier than usual and were the only ones there. Though two women arrived, separately, took a look around then left before getting to the seated stage. I did wonder whether they had planned to meet each other there but just missed.

The weather looks a bit grey in the photo above but, actually, most of the day was bright and sunny. In fact, I worked out on the terrace for most of it, coming inside only to put washing on and to cook dinner.

As usual, a sugar treat guilt kicked in. The fika habit will have to change when we return to the UK. That shouldn’t be too difficult given Norrby’s will be too far away but also because fika isn’t a thing in Farnham.
