A post of two parts

As the title indicates, this post has two distinct parts.
First up we have the Political Part:

Since the terrorist attack on Saturday night, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan has been doing everything in his power to make sure things are returning to normal and those that need to be brought to justice are. He has been a voice of calm and resolute determination. He is the sort of mayor a city can be proud of. I can even forgive his stupid belief in the Great Invisible Nothingness as he seeks to reassure us that he is there to help.

Many people around the world have sent messages of support and admiration for his actions since the weekend. The Mayor of New York especially sent his support.

And what did Trump say that Bill found ‘unacceptable’?

(Generally I would embed a Tweet so that it can be accessed directly from the post, however, in the case of the president, a lot of his Tweets have a habit of disappearing. For this reason, his Tweets are screen dump images.)

That Tweet followed on from this one just after the attack on Saturday night:

I guess the American president is used to cowering in a corner whenever adversity stares him in the face. And I get that because the whole American “Keep the people in fear because they are easier to control” thing is firmly entrenched in the national psyche. It’s like if you don’t say you’re shaking in your boots and hiding under the bed then you’re taking the threat seriously.

However, these Tweets and unpresidential behaviour is only to be expected. What has me amazed is how our (pseudo) prime minister, Theresa May, did NOT come out in support of the mayor in condemning Trump for his remarks. Other world leaders did but not ours.

Now the calls are out to cancel Trump’s visit to the UK and particularly London. Given his ‘special relationship’ with Theresa May, I’m thinking the best thing would be for everyone in London to go away on holiday at the same time as he visits. In fact, Sadiq Khan had this to say:

“I don’t think we should roll out the red carpet to the President of the USA in the circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for.”

Of course, most of the mayor’s responses came later because the mayor was busy…

The worst thing about this is that Theresa May has said nothing. Clearly she has no love for London, its mayor or it’s people. She only has eyes for Donald.

But enough about that.
Here’s the Non-political Part of the Post:

The gardeners turned up bright and early this morning and set to de-weeding the entire garden. When I returned from the gym and shopping I almost kept walking because I didn’t recognise the front of our house.

There’s no ‘before’ photos because it was just too awful. Believe me when I say you couldn’t actually see any of the stuff in the above photo before Dave and Adam attacked it.

The Day-z Bed

They worked solidly for seven hours (apart from a single tea break) and cleared an awful lot of rubbish from the beds.

Candy Bed

Dave went mad in the Hot Border which was in danger of being subsumed into some strange weed ridden land of despair.

Hot Border

Now it’s up to me to keep the weeds under a bit of control as well as plant up the plants we bought on the weekend. If it doesn’t rain tomorrow, I’ll be outside with a shovel in my hand.
