I’ve figured out what Trump means by making America great again. It’s because they’ve lost so much stuff. There’s democracy, common sense, the scientific method, honesty, humanity and generosity and now, it would seem, they are losing their popular culture.
That’s a rather broad claim. To be a bit more specific: I believe I have found the Yellow Brick Road. It is now no longer anywhere near Kansas. It’s in Farnham Park.
We unexpectedly found it on our walk today.
Actually, it’s not really the Yellow Brick Road. It’s the result of the evil tree killing mushrooms I reported on earlier in the week and a few weeks ago. As mentioned, the poor, afflicted tree was cut down and the branches turned into big piles of wooden chips. (Apparently the big logs have been distributed throughout wooded areas to form wildlife refuges. It’s too muddy to check them out though so I’m going to take the Ranger’s word for that.)
Well, this morning they must have gone a bit mad because the mounds of chips have been beautifully spread out along the presently very muddy Avenue of Trees. Actually a clever person might now say it is an Avenue of Tree.
We also noted that the tree had been ground out leaving a sort of front tooth gap in the view. Kind of appropriate given it’s looking in the direction of the Sandy Hill estate. It could be a sort of downbeat form of Hollywood sign…except they are going to plant a tree to replace it.
As you can see by the photographs, the day was typically grey and grim. It was also quite chilly in the wind. A good day to stay inside in a warm house, listening to the radio and doing the housework.
I love both those photos it does look like the yellow brick road pretty good I think, and I am glad they are going to plant a new tree we don’t want to look like HOLLYWOOD not that I live there all the time but feel I have a say in the matter seeing as I was born there. Where did the cows go? Love mum xxxx
