Walk around the headland

Most of today was spent inside, finishing up Mirinda’s journal article. We took turns at her laptop. I did go up to the little shop for a baguette and milk first thing but that was about it.

It wasn’t until about 6pm that we decided to call it a day and head down to Locquirec for a pre-dinner walk around the headland.

The last time we stayed here, we didn’t go on the Tour of the Point and figured it was about time we did. The evening was perfect (still warm and no sign of the earlier rain) and the views ideal. Locquirec is situated in a big bay where the English Channel meets the Celtic Sea and the waters splash fondly against the rocks continuously. It is a magical place.

The path we were on winds around a headland with the occasional bench for the view starved visitor and numerous signs warning of collapsing edges.

Houses made with the local dark stone dot the landward side and form a fascinating backdrop of variety. Between the houses grassy mounds rise up either side of the feet worn path.

It was a truly delightful walk and the start of Mirinda returning back to her natural state of non-work stressy person…the one I much prefer going on holiday with.

We went to the Brasserie de la Plage for dinner.

The meal was delicious as was the wine. Quite a nice restaurant with a very good creme brulee.

It also had a couple of dogs in.

I love the fact that dogs are welcome in French restaurants. We had a Dalmatian behind us and an old English sheepdog over the other side of the restaurant. The sheepdog, who came in second, really wanted to have a play with the Dalmatian but his owner was far from convinced and decided to keep them apart.

There was also a rather eccentric looking woman who appeared to have stepped out of a Rembrandt painting.

Before heading back to the gite, we took a stroll along the harbour wall. Looking back, it was all rather magical.

A rather intense day which ended in perfection – Mirinda even sang a few show tunes which she hasn’t done for a long time. It was the perfect end to the day.
