Heavy horses

Saw a squirrel today. It stole half an apple that Mirinda had put out for the birds to peck at. Watched the starlings’ bully boy tactics at keeping Barry the blue tit away from the fat ball. There was a lot of bird activity in the long grass up the back of the garden.

Went to the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum for the Heavy Horse Spectacular. And what a glorious day for it. Not hot but all sun and blue skies. Mind you, this meant that there were millions there. There were actually queues for the Gents loo – now that’s when you know it’s seriously crowded.

We had to queue for lunch – must take our own in future.

Great horses, though we didn’t see any ploughing this time, just a bit of prancing about with wagons. The All England Ploughing Championship is 21 October.
