Not the brightest

I think we’ve been spoiled. It seems that poor little Freya is not exactly smart. That doesn’t take away her cuteness, I hasten to add.

I remember how quickly Emma picked up toilet training last year. Then there was the speed she knew her name. Though, to be fair, Freya did have a few names before we settled on Freya and the breeder had started calling her Fanny for the first eight weeks of her life.

I can well remember how quickly the poodles realised what the doggie door was for and how it worked. This too, Emma managed to conquer quickly.

Here’s a selfie of me and Emma:

Freya couldn’t even get that right. When I tried to take a selfie with her she just kept licking my face and moving her head so much she was nothing but a hairy blur.

I’m glad to say that she seems to have finally worked out the toilet training. She has asked me to let her out and, if the door is open, she’ll happily take herself out. Though her location choices leave a lot to be desired.

While she usually goes in the wildflower meadow or under Emma’s shrub in Carmen’s Sweet Escape, sometimes she goes a bit weird. Today, for instance, I caught her trying to mount the water feature. I stopped her just as her shakey legs were starting to squat.

That’s all by the by. The biggest hurdle seems to be the doggie door. She just won’t go through it unless someone is holding the flap up. She’ll just sit outside looking miserable, while Emma and Day-z are happily inside, warm and dry.

Still, I’m sure she’ll work it out eventually. While we wait, here’s a photo of Emma having just returned her tennis ball to me.
