No work for me this week. I’d fully intended to go. In fact, I was up at 5:30 and walking out the door at 6:40, heading for Sue’s with the girls pulling at their leads. Unfortunately, Sue slept in and didn’t hear the two doorbell rings. She vaguely heard Pippa barking at it but then just went back to sleep.
After a decent wait, I turned around and went home.
I figured something must have happened with her Dad. He had a stroke last week and has been in hospital. As it turned out, I was right. The hospital had called her at 1am this morning and she hadn’t managed to get back to bed until about 3am. I told her to go back to bed (when she rang to apologise profusely) but she just laughed the idea off.
In one way, I was quite pleased. Yesterday I’d had an email from Nick at Work saying he wouldn’t be in today and, of course, I’d be stuck with Kevin all day without a buffer. That wasn’t too appealing.
So, rather than the joys of South Ken, I was royally entertained by the puppies.
Each day they get half a Dentastick each. Emma eats her half as quick as she can but Day-z always hoards hers. This means a bit of a cat and mouse game to see who is going to wind up eating it. Quite often, that ends up being Emma.
Generally they play out their game while I’m at the shops but this morning I was fortunate enough to witness the final stages of the contest.
Emma tends to lie down, chew a bit then, at Day-z’s approach, dart under the dining chairs and table. There then ensues a short chase around the table before it all starts again. The game ends when Emma has finished the Dentastick. Here is just a taster…
Dentastix Wars, the trailer.
After lunch, and seeing as it wasn’t raining, I took them up to the park. Emma ran around so much that she managed to turn herself dark brown with mud. (And Day-z had an FSI – the first for ages.)
Emma was not best pleased with the bath she had to have when we returned home but I doubt she’ll learn from it. After all, she totally loves running and it’s not her fault the entire park is a bit of a quagmire at the moment.
Oh, and I found out a bit more about the blue castle door. The original dated from around 1460 though it had been painted a fair few times, most recently in the 1970’s. My friend the Mason told me this new one (and the frame) should last at least two hundred years. I asked him what the original paint colour would have been in 1460. He shrugged suggesting that it probably wasn’t painted at all.
That was funny,Emma is nearly as tall as Day_z it is wonder she does’nt chock as she keeps in her mouth. That was a shame about work, never mind next week will soon be here.Lol
love mum xx
