Miserable weather

Sad news today with the death of Roger Lloyd-Pack. While he is generally best known for playing Trigger in Only Fools and Horses and as Owen in The Vicar of Dibley, I was fortunate to see him live on stage twice. Firstly in Art and secondly in Richard III. He was a very talented actor with a remarkable range. He will be sadly missed.

The weather today was awful. So bad, that I had to wrap two big boxes in garbage bags, prior to carrying them up to the post office to be returned to Holland.

The boxes contained canvas prints that Mirinda ordered, then, upon arrival, decided she didn’t actually like them very much.

They’re a bit surreal,” I opined when they were unwrapped.
You mean you don’t like them?” She asked.
I don’t mind surreal but do they really look right in the bedroom?” I replied.

Mirinda agreed. So, they had to go back. To Holland.

Fortunately, I hadn’t thrown the packaging away as any returns have to be posted in the same way as they arrived. The only reason I hadn’t thrown it away was because it was made up of many layers of heavy cardboard, folded cleverly to protect the prints.

I re-packaged them, tied them together so I could carry them over my shoulder (the boxes were quite big) and was about to leave the house when the rain started. I tutted loudly, returned to the kitchen and wrapped them in the plastic garbage bags before tying them again and leaving again.

Everything worked out fine, after spending three quarters of an hour in the post office (only 15 in a queue, the rest working out the best way to send them), particularly by the clerk who was ridiculously helpful.

I then went to Starbucks for a midday latte. I was a bit late going shopping (and post officing) today because Optibob came over to run his tape measure along the dining room walls, just to check the measurements for the kitchen. We’re meeting with him on Saturday to finalise, and pay the deposit on, our new kitchen design.

The rest of the day was spent doing administrative stuff while the rain, in showers, relentlessly made going outside, awful. So I didn’t. Very much.
