Bacon and maple syrup

The cleaners came today so we made ourselves scarce. Bob suggested taking us to Middle Dural for breakfast, as this is what he does when the cleaners come. Actually, he wasn’t sure whether they were, in fact, coming this morning. The last time they came, they said something about going on holiday but Bob wasn’t sure if that meant they’d not be coming this week or last week…when they weren’t due to come. In any case, they turned up. So we piled into the car and went up to Middle Dural.

The cafe was rather European in style. Mirinda immediately noticed the individual blankets slung over the backs of chairs which reminded us of Prague two Christmases ago. When queried, the owner explained that he’d been to Prague and sat outside a restaurant which charged 30% more for sitting outside. He thought the idea of the blanket was good though wasn’t so keen on the 30% surcharge for the privilege of freezing outside and watching the astronomical clock.

Bob was quite keen on the all day breakfast (you could order ‘The Lot’ or ‘A Lot More’) but the minute I spotted the Canadian Breakfast, I knew what I was having. Pancakes, Swiss cheese, bacon, two fried eggs and maple syrup sounded pretty much like heaven to me. And it was. Mirinda had the same and wholeheartedly agreed with me. Bob, on the other hand, was a bit sceptical about the merits of bacon and maple syrup. We assured him it was a delicious combination that we first discovered in New York and have never looked back from.

The cleaners were just finishing up when he returned to the house so we sat around chatting.

The rest of the day was, basically, spent organising photographs in Mirinda’s new Flickr account. At some stage, I cooked up a whole lot of Italian for dinner.

    The breakfast sounded good but agree with Bob forget the Maple Syrup on the bacon.Dad did a shudder .
