Nyköping felt a bit rough this afternoon. We went shopping at Clas Ohlson and the shopping centre just felt a bit nasty. After filling a huge bag with stuff, I then popped into Hemköp and, again it wasn’t very salubrious. It could have been the time of day because the last time we visited, it just felt like a smaller version of Guildford. But not today.
Coincidentally, over dinner, we were listening to Sweden in Focus and they had a piece discussing the increase in gang violence in Sweden. It was quite chilling and so unnecessary. Criminal gangs recruiting kids to do their dirty work is a sad indictment on a society that consumes the drugs that causes the violence.
I doubt that the people who snort and/or inject the illegal products realise how much blood their drugs are cut with. Mind you, they probably wouldn’t care. I guess if the government really wanted to do something, they could always legalise Class A drugs and control their sale through something like the Systembolaget.
That aside, we managed to get the things we needed at Clas Ohlson and avoided being accidentally shot while doing it. Mirinda was feeling a lot better today and I think the drive through the beautiful countryside helped improve her health even more.
In important news, I discovered something in Hemköp which I could not resist.
As far as chocolate goes it was very nice but, with regard to crème brûlée…it gets a 0/10 from me. It tasted nothing like a crème brûlée. See my review on my Scoring crème brûlée page above.
As a postscript…actor, David McCallum died yesterday. He was 90. I used to love The Man from U.N.C.L.E. in which he played Illya Kuryakin. Most recently, and for many seasons, he’s been in NCIS. I read a tweet today that quoted a couple of lines from the programme. It was in the season 2 episode The Meat Puzzle.
At one point, Agent Kate Todd (Sasha Alexander) asks Gibbs, “What did Ducky look like when he was younger?”
Gibbs smiles glibly before responding, “Illya Kuryakin.”
