The Perfect Swedish Family swapped their massive caravan for a camper van. This was not that long ago and they took it for an experimental spin down to Nynäshamn. It then happened that an unexpected September week off was offered to them. It was decided to take the camper van out and away for an early autumnal break. Their first stop was Trosa.
Tommie had been messaging me with their intentions and it was decided that we would meet up for fika today. There were no times discussed so I waited by my phone all morning, having already walked to the ICA for our dinner needs.
I also screwed some hooks into the wall of the guest house (in the palaver area to be precise) in preparation for our next set of guests. There were more things I could have done had I been in possession of the correct tools. These things will have to wait until I can get to Nyköping, our nearest Clas Ohlson.
Actually, Nyköping is not really our closest Clas Ohlson. Oddly, I could get to the one in central Stockholm slightly quicker because the trains are so fast. But then I wouldn’t have the car and I’d have to haul stuff on the train home. I don’t really fancy that given I generally only have one hand. So, Nyköping it is.
The plan is to go tomorrow.
That being sorted, I sat down to eat. I had almost finished lunch when a message pinged through from Tommie suggesting we meet up. After checking with Mirinda, I messaged back saying Bomans at 14:30.
And we did meet up and had a wonderful time, sitting, drinking, with nibblies, for a couple of hours. It was lovely, particularly given we could now touch. The last time we saw them was in 2021, in the midst of the distance keeping pandemic. We used to sit at the front door while they sat at the other end of the hallway. It was very jolly, just a bit odd, distancewise. A bit like Putin and his very long table.
Anyway, we chatted close up today and about just about everything, and Sara declared that this would become a new tradition. A week off in September and first stop Trosa and fika with us. I really hope we won’t have to wait another year before we see them again.
And I know that Freya agrees.
