Back when we made the big IKEA order which included all the stuff for my office, Mirinda included a two legged cupboard for the bathroom in the guest house. I haven’t been looking forward to putting it together mainly because it’s quite weighty but also because it only has two legs. With Fi arriving tomorrow, today was my last opportunity to get it done.
The cupboard was also the reason why I needed the drill we bought yesterday. In order to support the cupboard on its two legs, it is fixed to the wall behind it. The wall of the bathroom in the guest house is a sort of faux tile patterned wall covering which requires some sort of mechanical device to puncture.
I’m happy to report that, while it took me a fair few hours and some head scratching, I managed to build and erect it. And I think it looks pretty good.
This was taken before I put the door on. As anyone who has put together an IKEA cupboard single-handedly knows, when there’s a door involved, it’s best to have a few quick goes then take a break before making a successful, second attempt. The door went on smoothly and easily after a short break to glue Mirinda’s rocking chair back together again.
The cross pieces of dowel that hold the rockers together had popped out and threatening to land the occupant on the floor. Another thing we bought in Clas Ohlson yesterday was wood glue. I poured glue into the empty holes then lightly hammered the dowel back in place. Hopefully it will work.
I also had a few hooks to mount in the guest house which didn’t take very long. Oh, and I made the bed and washed the towels.
In the meanwhilst, Mirinda went over to Nicoline’s place to attend a three hour board meeting over Teams before sitting down and practising her Swedish with Nicoline.
Then, late in the day, I received a photo from Nicktor.
He was shocked when he first looked at it because he wanted to know how come I was photobombing photographs at Aldershot games and not saying hello to him.
