Artful Easter in Trosa

Yesterday, while we were pretending to go to the theatre, I had a text from Jim the Poodle man. In true Trosa fashion he said he’d heard we were back in town and wondered if we’d like to go and view his wife’s artworks. Obviously, I said yes, we’d love to so, this morning, we did.

For the last few Easter breaks, Trosa has put on a town art exhibition. Residents are asked to provide one item to go in the Skärborgarnas Hus. Visitors can then grab a map which shows where each artist is showing their work. Excellent idea.

Lena, Jim the Poodle Man’s artistic wife, had a shed full of paintings. About half were of Trosa scenes. She said that’s what the public wants though, I think she prefers her other works. Of course, Mirinda bought one of the Trosa paintings; a painting of Matstudio, our favourite restaurant in Trosa.

It’s another addition to our gradually growing collection of original works.

Jim then invited us in for a tour of the house, something Mirinda loves.

It’s very big. It’s over four floors, though they really only use two of them, ignoring the basement and attic. Jim wants to move because he doesn’t like having to go upstairs anytime he wants to change his trousers. I’m not sure that Lena agrees because she has a lovely studio upstairs.

Sean, their son, made us a coffee and gave me his version of the tour which featured a lot of Lego.

Eventually, we said our goodbyes and Jim directed us to the house just across the way where, he said, a woman had some excellent ceramics on show. And he was correct.

In her workshop were dozens of little figures, some in bath tubs, some in groups, one group enjoying fika. They were all excellent. I particularly liked one of the bathtub ones. Mirinda, however, fell in love with a little old lady just as we walked in. She bought it.

It was such a successful morning that we thought we’d celebrate at Tre Små Rum where a new menu excited our taste buds and satisfied our hunger. My Texan sandwich was too good to refuse.

In the afternoon Mirinda joined Nicoline at the Friskis and Svettis AGM which was a right hoot even though Mirinda didn’t understand much of what was being said. Mind you, we had dinner at Nicoline’s tonight, and she gave a detailed account of what went on.

It was another night of Gary laughing too loudly, I’m afraid.

We haven’t been back a week yet, but our social calendar is awash with engagements.
