This is the second weekend in a row that we have been visited by glorious blue skies. So, after shopping and Mirinda’s chat with her parents, we set off for Thursley Common for a wander around the boglands.
The last time we visited, we walked halfway up a path that followed an old field boundary and we decided to see where it went. This is beyond the bogs and in a sandy, heather strewn landscape. There’s also a very strange tree.
The only way I can describe it is to say that it started to grow then something caused it to bend over and head down for a bit. It then, once more, started heading towards the sun. This has caused the tree to develop a very definite ‘U’ in it’s trunk. But, better than simply describing it, here’s a photograph.
We had some fun with Mirinda taking pictures of me ‘riding’ it and the poodles wondering what the hell was going on, before heading further up the path.
At the top of the path, more, enticing trails headed off in every direction (almost). It’s always difficult when this happens because we just want to explore them all. However, we also like to leave some things for later trips so we chose one and followed it back down to the boglands.
It’s quite good going for an early Sunday walk because we feel we’ve earned our lunch when we get home…Which we devoured with great gusto before heading out into the garden for the remainder of the light.
Pretty close to a perfect Sunday.
