Managing Rocky avoidance

One of the things we have missed while living in Sweden is lightly smoked salmon fillets. I discovered them years ago at Waitrose and they work remarkably well with my salmon with avocado crust. The thing is, I haven’t seen them anywhere else but Waitrose. Of course, having one within walking distance of the house in Lymington meant that, tonight, we revisited this source of joy.

We also miss lamb chops but you can find them in Sweden just not very often. And obviously I miss Tim Tams but Denise keeps me supplied whenever she comes over for a visit.

There’s also things we miss because of the pandemic. Going to Paris for one. The fact that we went to Sweden because of Brexit and the pandemic reaction here in the UK meant our regular trips to Paris have been curtailed. Our last visit was late in 2022 and it’s hard to see when our next will be. I’m reminded of what we’re missing everytime I receive an email regarding the forthcoming acts at the Duc de Lombard.

Something we’ll never miss is when the dogs come into season. It’s always so unpredictable. Emma started a few days ago and has the indignity of wearing the aqua nappy while in the house. She doesn’t like wearing it and, therefore, regularly stands by the back door, pretending she wants to go to the toilet.

Taking her for a walk is also a bit of a pain. Mirinda told me about her meeting with Rocky today when they went for a walk. He was very interested in our little princess and was quite difficult to avoid. From now on, poor Emma will stay at home with me. Well, until she’s finished attracting random male dogs.

Speaking of the girls, they looked so cute curled up together while I was having my reading hour tonight that I couldn’t avoid taking a photo.

Freya looks quite uncomfortable but, clearly she wasn’t. They stayed like that for quite a long while.

I wonder if Emma is thinking about Rocky.
