Tonight we met Julia. She is a young woman who works at the Stadshotell in Trosa and she loves dogs. She made very good friends with our two as we sat to have dinner in the restaurant tonight. She was just one of those unfriendly Swedes we keep hearing about.
And it wasn’t just Julia who made a fuss of the girls. Almost all the staff and a few guests also made a point of stroking and talking to them.
We’ve had drinks a few times, but this marked our first time eating there.
The food was marvellous, the service perfect, the attention to canine needs, immaculate. Julia even bought over two blankets for them to lie on.
We’ll definitely be back. And we better take the dogs, or I think Julia will be inconsolable.
A little bit more inconsolable was poor Tubby 24 who was stripped of all dignity today ahead of our trip away. It took most of the day to collect all 7,456 Christmas decorations secreted around his branches then pack them securely away before hacking him to bits, but it was finally completed, and he was soon chucked ignominiously into the snow.
The rest of the day was mostly spent booking hotels. The ferries and the vet, had already been booked.
Finally, here’s a photo of my main course. I couldn’t resist. It was halibut on cauliflower cream, sugar snap peas, mashed potatoes and red caviar. So good!
As usual, a night off for the chef proved delicious.
