Poor Emma. We drove to Aldershot this afternoon with her and Freya. As we walked along the road, she looked a bit downcast. Where’s the grass and trees, she seemed to be asking. When we knocked at the door of number 6, her tail went down. Presumably, she thought we were dumping her with yet another dog minder. She may even have thought she was getting another hair cut. She gets quite emotional when we arrive at Kate’s.
The door opened and Emma’s mood instantly changed as she leapt at Sue, her favourite human. Before Sue m0ved, I would only have to turn into her road and Emma would get excited. Now she has to rearrange where she lives.
We went round to see the new house and, obviously, to have tea and cake. To that end, I’d made an almond and citrus drizzle cake first thing.
It could have stayed in the oven for about five minutes longer given the small, moist middle but, Mirinda enjoyed the cake mix centre, so it wasn’t that bad.
Sue’s new house is a delightfully big, in need of work, Victorian terrace, built next to a church. She’s been there since November and has already started making improvements. Okay, the Artex has to be sorted – who knew they used balloons to get an interesting effect – and she’s slowly peeling off wallpaper whenever she needs a bit of therapy, but, there’s also a lot she’s had done.
Her yoga studio, for a start, is amazing. It’s down the back of the long garden and even has an entrance from the alley, so her class doesn’t have to traipse through the house. Heated floor, indirect lighting, big folding glass doors, it’s amazing.
16 days to go
And we had a lovely, long chat. Of course, we invited her and Maud to come and visit us in Trosa, showing her the guest accommodation. She has discovered her more adventurous side and loves to just jump in the car and go, camping gear at the ready.
We had a delightful couple of hours. Sue is one of our favourite humans, too.
