On our previous stay in Sweden, we visited Norrby Trädgård almost every Wednesday. We would often have fika there. Their buns were always glorious. And the carrot cake was superb. But, my favourite thing on the menu at Norrby’s was the fisksoppa.
They only make it during the colder months so I was hoping there’d be some there today when we visited for lunch. I was not disappointed.
It was just as I remembered it – delicious. Mirinda had the räkmacka which was also excellent. Though not a patch on my fisksoppa.
While the food remains almost the same (the cheesy pies have gone), Norrby’s itself, has had a face lift. And it is now table service rather than ordering at the counter. And you get shown to a table rather than just finding one to sit at.
We were served by the woman that Mirinda spoke to in the garden last time. She has been there for 20 years and, in the warmer times, tends the garden. It was hard to tell, but I think she might have recognised us. At least, she claimed to remember talking to Mirinda.
We stopped at Norrby’s on the way to look at a couple of houses not far from The Perfect Swedish Family. I really liked the first one. As well as having a nice size garden and being a bungalow, it is within easy walking distance of both shops and buses. There’s also the added benefit of knowing the area a bit.
The housing market at the moment is very good for the buyer so, hopefully, we’ll find somewhere soon.
