I really wanted to be mobile enough to walk into Farnham this morning. As luck would have it, Andrew texted to ask if I could do coffee at 9am. I vowed to meet him. I didn’t know how long it would take but figured I’d give myself an hour rather than the usual 30 minutes. Though decidedly slow, I managed to get to Waitrose by 08:45. I went shopping first.
And my leg/knee/foot managed to hold up okay. It was sore at times but, generally, it worked. And I was so glad, given how beautiful the park looked in the morning sun.
Mind you, because I was an hour later than normal, most of the people I passed were just miserable. A very different experience to my usual walk in. Not that I was that worried. I just felt sorry for them and their miserable lives. The fact that I’m off to Sweden tomorrow was enough to keep me smiling.
At Starbucks Jazz took my order. I was so glad to see her before I left. She was quite sad I was going but cheered up once Andrew arrived and we started laughing and making more noise than the parents who’d dropped their kids off at school then returned to Starbucks to be really noisy. Actually, Jade was very sombre and when Andrew asked her why, she said it was because of the noisy parents. The noise just made her tense, so she tended to blank everyone and everything out, until they left.
I spent a delightful 90 minutes with Andrew, convincing him he should come and visit us some time. He looked thoughtful then nodded, saying he would forego his usual Tenerife and pop over to Stockholm one weekend. I assured him there’d be a bed for him. I hope he does.
He had to leave because he had a job to go to after the gym, so there were hugs all round before we parted. Him for the gym and me for the bus. Mirinda had insisted I get the bus home and not walk twice. I didn’t have a problem with this as it gave me the chance to use my bus pass. And catch a bus. Obviously.
Back at home, I started packing the car in order to make sure I could fit everything in. It’s going to be a tight squeeze (Mirinda wants to take her guitar) but I’m pretty sure I can make it work. Well, I have to, really.
The rest of the day was more of the same with a sprinkling of fixing an arsehole printer that decided to chew up sheets of paper rather than print on them. And it was right at a critical stage. I had to print off a contract, sign and scan it then send it back and, of course, that was the page the printer decided to eat.
I can’t believe the day is finally here. I never thought it would actually happen. I am starting to get quite excited.
