Blizzard conditions

Today I really made myself useful. It was a job I could do from the floor. In fact, had my ankle not been sprained, I would still have accomplished the job from the floor. Albeit in a lot less discomfort.

Last night, Mirinda’s accidental meeting of the mice prompted her to insist on my cleaning the under sink cupboard. The rubbish has been consigned to the freezer, so this would ensure that the cupboard would be bare when Mrs Mouse Hubbard next comes foraging.

To not put too fine a point on it, it was disgusting. I would suggest it hadn’t been cleaned forever but, to be fair, I didn’t really look at it when we first moved in. It could, of course, have just been since our occupation. I have now vowed that it is a job to be done at least once a month.

I started cleaning when Mirinda left for her morning walk with the girls. I was, more or less finished, by the time they returned. I was a bit ache-y but well satisfied with the job. Let’s hope the mice have been convinced this is not a good place to eat.

I still think they have come into the house because of the weather. We’ve heard them in the walls and roof since day one but they’ve only been apparent downstairs since the big snow and ultra freezing temperatures. Given the weather is warming up, they may return to dining outside.

Not that today was much to write home about. The weather was appalling late on. It started a bit grim but then went downhill after lunch until we had a full on blizzard as Mirinda had a meeting with two people at work. She kept turning her laptop around, so they could see the almost horizontal trees.

And the temperature dipped so low that I was tasked with lighting a fire. It was a return to the cosiness of a little while ago.
