Today was spent lying on the lounge and, when urgently required, crawling around the doughnut to visit the bathroom. My foot is seriously swollen and I am unable to put any weight on it. I am a lounge restricted invalid.
I guess the fall I took on Wednesday has decided to seriously impact my left foot. I think it’s a serious sprain. The pain is awful. The swelling is massive.
The graze marks on top of my left foot show how my foot had been bent backwards when I slipped on the gravel.
I woke up in the night and was forced to crawl down the stairs. I couldn’t stand on it. I decided not to return upstairs. I’ve been on the lounge ever since.
Mirinda discovered what to do when it comes to swollen ankles: RICE. That’s Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.
Rest is simple because it’s really all I can do. Ice Mirinda managed to get some from Ica along with a footbath to put it in (Clas Ohlson). Compression has not been so simple because we don’t have any bandages. Elevation, again, has been easy with my foot being higher than my heart.
Poor Mirinda had to do everything today, including going shopping. Max was giving annoying readings regarding the oil. As it turned out, he wasn’t saying the oil was low. This is what happens when a car doesn’t have a dipstick and depends, instead, on electronics. Anyway, Mirinda bought some oil that we didn’t need before getting the essentials which we did. Like the footbath, food and ice cream.
In the meanwhilst, I sat and/or lazed on the lounge all day feeling useless.
At least I have an excellent nurse (Mirinda) and the puppies.
