This evening, just before The Archers started, there was a frantic knock at the front door. It was Gail from next door. Apparently, Rodney was stuck down the side of our house and she was just letting me know she was trying to get him out.
It seems that Rodney is scared of greenery. While this really makes me wonder how he manages to walk around the park, I couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of him sitting halfway down the side of the house, fearfully staring at a couple of ferns blocking his way out.
They were returning from the Park when Rodney spotted the ginger cat that often sits outside our house (it belongs to the Crazies) and decided he wanted to play. The cat, having none of it, raced down the side of our house in order to fly up the fence to safety. Rodney, of course, can’t climb fences and suddenly found himself surrounded by plants.
Laughing, I went and collected him, telling him what a wimp he was. Meanwhile Emma and Day-z watched, laughing along with me. It was very funny, especially given he’s such a big dog.
And I didn’t miss The Archers, getting back inside just as the theme tune started.
The Rodney Episode was a nice end to a rather wasted day. Karl arrived nice and early and finished the access for the plumbers who then turned up a few hours later. And then the day started going downhill.
The plumbers checked everything to determine what was causing the lack of pressure coming from the sink tap but couldn’t. The tap isn’t an ordinary, twist on and off one. No, it’s way more complex than that.
Anyway, it all boiled down to being the tap so Jem, the plumber, rang the bathroom shop from where it had originally come, and explained the situation. The bathroom guy said he’d get in touch with the tap people and then get back to Jem. Jem would then get back to me with the results…probably a new tap, Jem said.
That all sounds nice and easy but it wasn’t anything of the sort. They had to pull everything apart and put it all back together, stare down pipes with only the aid of beams of sunlight conveniently falling through the skylight and poking tiny cameras down things. Clearly they also forgot to replace something essential because at one stage water started gushing into the vestibule.
This set them off like lunatics, twisting taps and frantically throwing towels all over the floor. It would have been quite comical if it had been someone else’s house. Anyway, there was no harm done and after they’d cleaned up it was like nothing had happened.
So, when all was said and done, the snagging week that was will have to be extended until the tap is fixed. Still, everything else is great.
Speaking of great…Day-z was feeling a lot better today. The shot the vet gave her yesterday has really made a difference as well as the antibiotics I’ve started her on. On our walk she hardly limped at all.
I was laughing my head off about the guys running around trying to stop the water, and that was funny with Rodney poor thing. I can just imaging your two looking at him thinking what’s the matter with him the BABY!
Love mum xx
