One week of convenience

It was like a feeding frenzy in a shark tank. Or a flock of vultures picking clean a dead buffalo. It was 50% off everything in the Coop up the road. The queue first thing, snaked across and around the car park, making it difficult for drivers. I managed to squeeze through, on my way down to the recycling.

The reason for the mob was the result of a poster proclaiming that the Coop was closing and selling everything in the shop. At least, I assume that’s what it said. The closing down sale started this morning and is set to continue until Sunday but, if what I saw this morning was anything to go by, there’ll be nothing left by the end of business tonight.

Last week, when we arrived, I was quite joyous at being so close to a supermarket; a good size shop I could easily walk to in under ten minutes. Well, I was while it lasted. Anders, our landlord, said that he thought the Coop was closing in order to make way for flats to be built. I guess it’s starting to happen right now.

I managed to avail myself of the 50% saving late in the day when I went up to buy some dog poo bags. Actually, I bought all of their dog poo bags. I figured I might as well, given that everyone was just buying multiples of everything.

However, first thing, as I said, I was on my way to the recycling which is down at Träkvista idrottsplats (I call it ‘idiot place’ because I’m juvenile), an 11 minute walk for a normal human being. It took me about 20 minutes but, at least it’s all downhill.

Anders told us that the recycling used to be at the Coop but that was the first thing to go.

The recycling is, as usual, in a big commuter car park and very close to a bus stop where I picked up the 309 to Ekerö Centrum with only a four minute wait. Pretty close to perfect timing.

I was back at the house before the rain started. The rain that, I think, signals the end of the snow as the temperature begins rising, and the white becomes slush. In fact, Mirinda’s late walk was curtailed because the weather was so grim.

Snowy views will now be but photos in a blog post.

Well, until next year, of course.

Note: We had a response from Skatteverket (the personnummer people) today saying we had to provide more information. At least we have a case officer now. That’s one step forwards though the bulk of the letter was two steps back.
