Today, the weather was a bit of a mixed bag. Most of the day it felt like a spring day in Sydney while the late afternoon and evening, was more like autumn in Surrey, complete with a bit of rain. Annoyingly, chainsaw man makes it impossible to have doors and windows open when it’s hot, and the rain makes it impossible when he stops.
Still, I went shopping and so missed out on a lot of the noise while Mirinda managed a couple of walks.
Being a Monday, I went to the butcher and was surprised by a second butcher working in the shop. Usually it’s the woman, but today she had a fellow with her. After opening up, she disappeared out the back while he served me. His English is just as good as hers, so it wasn’t a problem.
Though, when it came to the final reckoning, she always gives me 10% discount on every item but he didn’t. I’ve wondered about this discount and what it means. Is it because I’m the first customer? Is it because I’m not Swedish? Is it because I’m old? Whatever, I didn’t get it today.
Then it was up to ICA for the rest of the shopping, where there’s been the sudden appearance of melons of all shapes and sizes. They are gathered together in a special melon fridge unit near the entrance. This placement worked very well on me given I bought half a rock melon to have after dinner tonight.
On the bus heading back, I noticed a person sitting at the back. I have no idea what sex this person was. It had a head of very white, very short hair. The colour was as white as Ross’s teeth in that episode with the flouro dental work. While that isn’t really that exceptional, the fact that the head of hair was covered with bright red hearts was.
It looked as if someone had used a heart shaped template and spray-painted the head all over. I’m all for people wearing whatever they want and looking however they want, mainly so I can write about eccentricities. It certainly makes for interesting people watching.
As for me, I spent the rest of the day researching dead soldiers before finishing the day with a lovely icy cold glass of my favourite schnaps.
