A rather dominant bush

Today was Record the Magazine Day for FATN which meant having to climb the stairs to the recording room. It marked the first ascent for two weeks. I figured that, if my legs refused to rise to the occasion, I’d just go backwards on my butt. As it turned out, my feet managed it perfectly well, if somewhat slowly.

Clearly, I am well on the way to the mend. Okay, my left foot is still a bit swollen and red, but the heat has gone, and I can put some weight on it (as long as I use my walking stick) but at least there appears to be no permanent damage.

I did try and put shoes on today but this was not particularly successful.

The girls forced me to when they went outside to the loo but refused to return. Mirinda had gone to the café, so there was nothing for it but to venture out on the terrace to find them.

My right shoe just slipped on, but the left big toe was not happy. A stab of pain and the shoe came off lickety split. I had to wear it like a thong and slide my foot across the terrace like Igor in some 1930’s horror film.

I managed to get them back. They tend to come running when they can actually see me. It’s annoying not having a fence of some kind because, if that was the case, I’d just leave them out there.

Still, it was nice, sort of going outside for the first time in yonks.

In the meanwhilst, upstairs in the recording room, I had a jolly fun time recording with Ann and Susan with Mike as engineer. There was a lot of laughter, though not on the recording. As Mike said, there needed to be a blooper reel of the stuff that wasn’t used.

I feel a bit sorry for the listeners though because I’m presenting the newspaper this week as well, so they might get a bit fed up with my voice after a bit.

Naturally, we all compared weather notes – so English. Apparently the sun was out in Farnham though it had rained in the morning. I looked out the window of the upstairs room and the sun on Camilla and Ander’s house lit it up like a beautiful painting.

When I managed to get back downstairs without mishap, I popped out the front door and took a photo. Which doesn’t really do the scene justice.

My apologies for the rather dominant bush in the centre of the photo. This is what happens when you can’t walk off the porch.
