Last night, before going to bed, I caught a bit of Cruel Intentions. I’ve never seen it before though I’m a big fan of Les Liaisons Dangereuses (and all it’s incarnations) upon which it is based. And I was amazed at how much Sarah Michelle Gellar looked like Karen! It took me back to an audition piece we did together taken from the play (Merteuil & Valmont). At some stage we had considered performing Liaisons but, sadly, never did. As for Cruel Intentions…the bit I saw looked very good – a nice stylish updating of the piece. I’m going to have to watch the whole thing now!
I was chatting to mum and dad this morning about how thieves were targeting stranded cars, left by their owners during the big snow dump. They would break into them and steal whatever they could lay their hands on. I think this is a pretty low act but I was definitely heartened by a story in the paper the other day. Apparently three teenagers had broken into a car and stolen a phone, a briefcase, a laptop, etc and high-tailed it home. The police arrived, attending the alarm going off and simply followed the very obvious tracks in the snow. They led directly to the house where the teenagers were. Further tracks led to a shed out the back where the police found the stolen goods. I mean, how stupid can you be? Genius!
Tonight Nicktor is coming over. Originally we were going to see Aldershot play but the pitch is frozen so the game has been cancelled (pathetic, I know: never like that in my day, blah blah blah). Nicktor figured we could still have the beer part of the night. I saw no inherent problem in this. He’ll be here in about half an hour so I’m making my blog entry early, knowing I’ll not be able to type later.
That sounds like the guy that held up the petrol station looked up at the camara on the wall and took off his mask, the cops are still laughing took them all of 2 hours to catch him.
love mum
