Rocky slope

The snow on paths and roads had largely gone today. There were still clumps of it spread over open ground and in trees but, on hard surfaces, there was none. I don’t know how that happened, unless it was the barely above zero sunshine. Maybe it was fairies with brooms. Not that I’m complaining.

I put off taking the girls around the mountain until after lunch, if for no other reason than to allow more of the icy bits to melt away. Not that there seemed a lot of need for concern. I popped out to test for slippy bits after we’d eaten and decided it was good for walking.

The coats we bought them in Lymington held their shivering at bay somewhat and we headed out, suitably attired.

I tried to get them to look at me but I think they were far more interested in setting off.

By the time we were heading down the home stretch, I’d warmed up enough to unzip my fleece and remove my gloves. They were quite happy to retain their coats. Mind you, I’m sure Emma would have happily taken hers off. She kept rolling in the snow then springing up looking confused because she couldn’t feel it.

Oddly, we didn’t see anyone during our walk until we were almost home when a woman pushing a pram and having a hands-free phone call walked past us. She gave us a cheery “hej” mid-conversation as she wheeled by.

The rest of the day was spent in admin and checking out the stuga.

I hadn’t been into the stuga since we returned so I thought it was about time. I also needed to measure the little non-room in order to store some leftover wood flooring that Harald had put in the hall of the main house.

The stuga was fine and the wood will fit. While I was there, I also checked the little slope that Harald put in between the hall and the bedroom. It was good.

Speaking of slopes, the Mount Trosa ski slope is, I think, done for the season.

In Portugal, Mirinda spent the day roaming around Lisbon, battling broken footpaths, dodging cigarette smoke and climbing the hills.

Well it’s 24 degrees in Lisbon today so rather weird to see the dogs in coats!
