Given our visitors are leaving (temporarily at least) tomorrow, today Mirinda spent a lot of time with them. From lunch to Stendorren, they ‘did’ Trosa. They also had to return the hire car, so they also drove (two cars) to Nyköping. On the way home, Jason, who wants to enjoy the whole, real Swedish experience, insisted they stop at ICA to fill bags full of lollies for Fredagsmys (Cosy Friday).
As for me, apart from heading, at first light, to the ICA for tonight’s dinner, I pottered around the house.
One big, important job I managed to complete was putting our house number on the letterbox. It’s always been a mystery to me, why no-one has complained when trying to deliver stuff. Every notification from delivery people has stressed the need for a number.
Another mystery is why the house hasn’t a number on it at all. Okay, there’s a weird, perfectly useless number on the guest house which can’t be seen by anyone but, otherwise, there’s nowt to indicate what number our house is.
Still, not any more. I managed to drill holes in the box and used old nuts and bolts to fasten the metal numbers. I was quite proud and not in the least surprised that no-one noticed.
This morning’s glorious sunrise gave way to late rain, just in time for the travellers to return, ravenous for dinner. I made roast salmon and räksallad. It was devoured with great delight. Then came the lollies.
The smell of sugar was almost overpowering. However, I think the burst of energy meant a lot of sitting and chatting around the dining table. We have banned phones at meals so everyone is forced to talk. And talk we did.
Gradually Mirinda then Fi drifted off to bed while I sat with Lauren and Jason and talked palaeontology, archaeology, geology and how the Weasels came to be. It was all great fun. I’m going to miss them when they leave tomorrow.
The photo is of the sunrise this morning as I walked to the ICA.
