Today we left Tyresö and drove to Ekerö, a quite sizeable island in the Stockholm area. Of course, that meant packing Max, a big job with lots of bits and pieces filling lots of small, tight places. I mentioned feeling like a longshore man when I packed in Trelleberg back in January, and today was exactly the same. Actually, it was more so given the few extra things we’ve accumulated in the last two months.
Of course, the house was also fraught with short tempers. This was due to having to clean the house and because I’d be navigating the journey, avoiding the big motorways. I’m not sure what was worse.
Of course, I’d been studying the route for days, making sure I knew exactly what we were doing and where. We were heading for the car ferry which, effectively, meant three roads but I had to get them right.
And it was a great success. Especially the car ferry.
I’d had a bit of a problem with working out how to buy a ticket for the ferry. You can buy tickets online but, I discovered after a few fruitless attempts, you needed to download an app for which you needed a personnummer (of course). Also, the website is all in Swedish.
Still, I persevered, found the ‘contact us’ option and asked how I could get a ticket without a Swedish bank account. I had a very helpful response from someone called Lina with a link from where I could buy a ticket.
Perfect.
We turned up at the house on Ekerö in plenty of light, allowing me a very easy trip across the road to the Coop for dinner supplies.
And then, shortly after sunset, the snow started and, like two bears returning to hibernation, we snuggled down for the night.
