It is all fun until you’re 15 feet under water

Mirinda had Swedish class today and, while she was bussing and walking to the Folk University, learning more grammar and words before heading for a lovely lunch at Tranan, we were at home, doing very little. In order to illustrate our day, here’s a photo of Emma doing what she does very well. This is her Princess Pose.

Her look says it all. She can feel the pea and she’s not happy.

Mind you, it’s not like we stayed indoors all day. The day was bright and sunny (with a very icy wind) so it would have been a shame not to go out into it. And the girls agreed.

They were a bit sad that it was me and not Mirinda given Mirinda’s walks take about three hours and go through unchartered forests, skirting picturesque lakes, surrounded by ghostly silver trees.

With me, it’s just down the road and round the corner to the little boat launching park where they get a bit of off lead then around the rest of the block.

I did sit on a bench overlooking the lake for a bit which gave Emma a bit of stick throwing and Freya a bit of solo exploration time.

Above is the view from the bench. They’re fixing (or building) the pier. I think. It’s hard to say, but they’ll probably be finished by the summer when people will actually want to go into the water.

We also had a bit of tennis ball throwing from the step outside the sauna at the house.

Eventually, Mirinda returned home and we decided to watch a movie. We didn’t want to start anything new on Netflix (we finished Snabba Cash and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend the other night) because we don’t know if we’ll have it at the next place. So, of course, we decided to watch, what has become known in this family as Lauren’s Film.

Its official title is True Spirit, and it’s a lovely film about an Australian teenager’s grit and determination to conquer the world’s oceans. And it’s true. Amazing. And it’s where the title of this post comes from. More or less.

The teenager was Jessica Watson. Her Wiki entry is amazing. As was the film. We thoroughly enjoyed it. However, the bit we enjoyed most was watching the credits and waiting for this to appear:

They even gave her red arrows. Well done, Lauren!
