Gaz the terrorist

The driveway guys were back today. They arrived while I was shopping and Mirinda set them up with power and water. Des came through the house and was stunned by the extension. He particularly loved the stained glass window and the inside/outside tiles. Sam just wanted to turn the water on.

When I arrived back home with my wicker trolley, Des couldn’t stop raving about what he had seen. He also rather liked my wicker trolley. Des then told me that his wife thinks I probably look like Osama Bin Laden. That’s a bit odd. I think Des described my beard like it had grown in a cave in Pakistan. I’m also not sure a terrorist would use a wicker trolley.

It was Danny’s birthday today so he was left to pull up the pavers while Des and Sam went in search of stuff they’d need. Most important, according to Des, was a tin of black paint so he could paint the side gate. He said there wasn’t much point having a gleaming new drive if the gate was letting it down.

True to his word, he splashed the paint on (both sides) and, it soon looked a lot better. Like the driveway.

In fact, everything was coming along perfectly when the weather decided to take a turn for the worst. It poured down while they were away at lunch. I rushed out and covered up as much stuff as I could, particularly the power tools and extension lead.

The rain continued for some time and, once they’d returned, Des decided it was pointless continuing, particularly given they had to concrete the end pavers into the breeze blocks. The rain was coming in from the south in waves; some light, some heavy. And it didn’t look like stopping. I was tempted to ask about marine concrete but decided there was no point.

As it turned out, it stopped raining around 4pm, allowing Mirinda to take the girls for a walk around Crondall.

Even given the weather, the driveway, by the end of the day, was looking excellent.

Hopefully, it will be done by tomorrow.
