Santa played guitar

Today one of my readers failed to turn up. He rang me late in the day to apologise profusely (“I’ve never done it before” he exclaimed, to which I replied “Well, you can’t say that anymore”). I told him it was fine and we managed. In fact one of the letters we read was by him so it was just like he was there.

It was a Farnham edition which means an early start. It was also the coldest morning since mornings started getting cold last year. I wore my overcoat for the first time since last winter finally shook off it’s icy shroud.

My two readers were Heather and Jackie and were jolly good fun. Jackie is younger than me, a rare occurrence at the Talking Newspaper where the average age is about 85. Also our engineer was Roy who is also a veritable youngster. In fact we all spent quite a long time discussing modern technology…the first time that’s ever happened.

Naturally the recording session was delightfully chaotic and maniacally funny (Heather told the next presenter how much fun she has in my editions) and finished early. This means the girls get a walk because I manage to get home in the light.

Not long after I walked in the door and after they’d had some sliced ham, we went to the park where we met Dave and Rodney. I had Freya on the lead and, after he asked why, I was tempted to tell Dave it was because she’d gone all vicious and bitten a pony on the leg, but told him the truth that she was in season and I had to be careful about males in the vicinity. He said it was a good job Rodney was on his lead because he’s intact. I tried not to imagine a Rodney/Freya coupling, as I walked away, throwing Emma’s ball for her.

This was on the roof of Guitar Village as I walked home from Talking Newspaper. It reminded me of David Bowie.

Love Santa playing his guitar. Poor Rodney he would have been very frustrated but Freya would have just thought he was playing and run away. You certainly have a lot of fun at the talking news paper good on ya. Love mum xxxx
