Beaver in the sky

So, the temperature dropped enough for me to wear gloves, fleece and a beanie today. I left for the shops at my usual 7am and it was dark; no sign of the sun. Obviously, the temperature in ICA was way too high for me and I quickly removed a few layers. I didn’t put them all back on until after my short cemetery rest.

Of course, by that time, the sun had risen and was bathing the land in bright light and weak warmth. It also provided a nice reflection on the river.

Back at the house, Mirinda’s health continued to improve. In fact, she has improved so much that she took the girls for a walk before lunch. Of course, being this end of the year means if one’s going for a walk, one has to go in the middle of the day if one wants it to be light.

While they were out, I made a batch of wintry soup for Mirinda and shifted the furniture around on the deck. The Summer Placement encroaches on the only bit of the deck that remains dry all day which means I can’t just walk out in my thick woollen original KSP socks. Mirinda suggested moving the furniture to provide more dry walkway. Great idea. And one I could easily implement.

After lunch, we headed up to Elon for the umpteenth time to once again not buy a new TV. Other times, it’s been because Mirinda couldn’t make up her mind but, today, while we were fully prepared to actually purchase one, the shop assistant in a typical Swedish manner, insisted we wait for the Black Friday sales next week when the TVs would be cheaper.

Subsequently, we didn’t buy a new TV.

Instead, Mirinda spent a lot of time outside, watching the Beaver Moon.

Of course, because of the nature of our eyes, it looked massive compared to the photo below, which is how it really looked. However, it did look very big in the sky, with a very bright Jupiter not too far away from it.

It’s called a Beaver Moon because, apparently, it coincides with the time each year that the beavers start to settle down in their lodges, ahead of hibernation. It’s also the final super moon of the year, something that Mirinda told me as we watched it from the newly rearranged deck.
