We had an unexpected and very pleasant trip to the Notholmen café this afternoon. On the spur of the moment, we decided to go for a light lunch. It was mainly light because the kitchen is currently being renovated, so all they had were cakes and sandwiches. Of course, we had both. Or one of each. Each.
And, while Mirinda had a cardamom bun, I went for one of their coconut towers. I had them a few times when we were here before, but I don’t remember them having saffron in them. It was very, very good. As was Mirinda’s cardamom bun.
The afternoon was looking a bit bleak, but the day had been quite glorious. My walk to the shops first thing was drenched with sunshine. Okay, it was a bit chilly but, as they say in Sweden, it’s not the weather but the clothes that dictate your temperature.
I proved this by getting rid of the snow on Max without wearing my gloves. I’m pretty sure I learnt this lesson the last time we were here but, clearly, it didn’t sink in very far. Or, like Homer, it was pushed out by something else.
My fingers glowed red as we headed for the island. Sitting on them helped a bit.
As well as my misjudged attempt at hypothermia, I spent a lot of the day trying to work out how to get a bank account really quickly. It’s not easy without a personnummer and BankID but, it seems, it is possible.
We need a bank in order to buy a house. In order to get a bank account, we need an address. That’s a bit of a circular issue. Anyway, the upshot of it was, having written to the closest bank, we’re going to go in on Monday and harass them.
We’ll also attempt to get a personnummer.
And, just to prove that the day was bright and sunny…
As you can see, while Emma disappears in Autumn leaves, Freya can hide in the snow. Good job she has a red collar.
