Kenny the floor guy was supposed to come around this afternoon/evening to quote for the bedroom floors. He didn’t turn up. I can only assume he doesn’t need the work. I will find someone else.
The main problem with Kenny’s method was that he didn’t set a time to visit. “Late afternoon or early evening,” is not really something you can work with very well. And so, while Mirinda worked on her DBA upstairs, I was at the dining table working on my netbook rather than out in the office.
My biggest concern was that Kenny would knock at the front door while I was making dinner. That would have been very annoying. Having made and dished up dinner, I was concerned he’d knock while we ate it. Mind you, by then it was about 7:45 and Mirinda claimed we were well passed the ‘late afternoon/early evening cut off’.
Anyway, he didn’t knock at all. I don’t have a phone number for him so it’s not like I could ring. There was little point in emailing him since I assume he was ‘out and about’ somewhere. So, we didn’t see Kenny and I’ll find someone else to quote on the floors.
Hey ho, as I sometimes say. Basically, it was just annoying and we settled back to my signature dish of avocado crusted salmon and watched the new Coen brothers (written) film, Gambit.
A brilliant movie with a fantastic cast. Colin Firth as Harry Dean was superb; his comic timing, excellent. Alan Rickman (Farelli’s favourite) was wonderfully horrid as the ridiculously wealthy Lionel Shahbandar and Cameron Diaz had a jolly time playing a rodeo queen.
We thoroughly enjoyed and recommend it. At times dipping into glorious farce, it is a comedy, with Harry trying to sell Lionel a fake Monet. It also has plenty of surprises and twists.
My favourite part of the film was easily the stuff at the Savoy which had me in stitches.
And the best thing about Gambit? Kenny didn’t knock on the door during it.
Well all I can say about Kenny is he must be very rich.
